Dental Implants

When it comes to replacing missing teeth, you have options with restorative dentistry. Partial dentures, bridgework and dental implants are all methods of bringing your mouth back to its best working order when teeth are missing. Dental implants are a lasting investment in the restoration of your missing tooth that provides a smile that looks radiant and natural. Dr. Frederick will explain in detail how the implant process works. He will also examine your mouth and the area where the implant would go to ensure that you are a good candidate for the process. The completed implant looks and feels like your natural tooth.

Teeth Replacement

Replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant is a wonderful alternative to a partial denture or bridgework. Partials can feel cumbersome or uncomfortable and bridgework requires preparation of neighboring teeth. The dental implant only impacts the site where the tooth is missing.

A small titanium post, much like a screw, is inserted into the jawbone through a minor surgical procedure. This is placed where the root of the tooth would be and left to heal for a time so that the bone and titanium fuse together. The next step involves placement of a healing collar or temporary crown which will allow the gums to heal in the proper position around the implant. Finally, the permanent crown will be seated and you will have a beautiful smile.

Dr. Frederick will go over the criteria for a suitable implant placement. He will explain step by step what to expect and give approximate time frames. You will also be told the proper care of your implant and how to manage with it during the healing process.

Not every person is a good candidate for this procedure. Contact Frederick Dental today to schedule a consultation. Dr. Frederick will talk to you about your options should it turn out that a dental implant is not the best thing for your replacement tooth.
